Will you tell me when did you last see 2000 rupees? There must have been some reason behind making 2000 rupee notes less visible. If you remember, demonetization was announced by the Indian government on November 8, 2016 by discontinuing the old notes of 500 and 1000 rupees and introducing new notes. The new note included Rs 2000 notes along with Rs 10, 20, 50, 200 and Rs 500 notes. Newly designed all notes all the notes were given different colors to make them attractive. When we did a research on the reduction of 2000 rupee notes, it was found that during the year 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, a new note of 2000 rupees was not printed.
